Chapter 1
The ward was all white.
Two hospital beds were placed side by side.
Two women were lying on the beds silently, both pale–faced. But the short distance between them seemed to connect two worlds.
Besides one bed surrounded several people–some were comforting carefully while some were serving water.
Only a few steps away stood another bed, alone.
The woman on it looked much weaker and paler, but everyone ignored her as if she was air.
Susan Miller, the poor woman, looked down slightly, letting the noise not far away float into her ears.
The one overwhelmed by love on the other bed was her younger sister, Yana Miller.
They were twins, but they didn’t look alike for they were fraternal ones, and one–minute time difference made Susan the elder sister.
Suffering from aplastic anemia since she was a kid, Yana required blood transfusions regularly even when she didn’t get hurt.
This time, Yana made a scene by cutting her own wrist, making her condition worse.
Yana was sent to the hospital overnight in a hurry, and Susan, who had long been Yana’s blood source since she matched Yana’s special blood. type, was naturally taken there at the same time.
A trace of aggrievedness flashed in Susan’s eyes.
She had just donated blood once for Yana a single week ago and now she was forced to draw blood again. Altogether, she had lost 1,200cc of blood.
The second time she had a blood draw, the doctor warned them against the third one, otherwise it might cause irreversible damage to her body.
But the doctor’s words worked little on her parents.
What they said then still echoed in Susan’s head.
“Hurry up. Yana’s body matters the most.”
She was their child, too.

But in their minds, Yana was always more important than her.
It seemed that she was born to be Yana’s living blood bag.
Her parents had been pushing it in her mind that if she hadn’t taken too much before birth, Yana wouldn’t have had such a disease.
She owed Yana, so she should pay for it.
Susan thought their words were right. Thus these years, she had always spoiled and given ground to Yana and been willing to serve up her blood.
But this time, she donated so much blood that for a moment, she felt she was dying.
Even so, she didn’t think they would care about her.
Susan wanted to cry, but her tears had run dry.
She couldn’t help wondering, ‘Mom and Dad said I owed Yana.
But when can I pay off it?
Or… I can never make it until I die?‘
Susan lowered her eyes, hiding the pain and despair in them.
At this time, Yana was surrounded by people.
With tears on her face, Jane Miller was holding a bowl of oatmeal in her hand, “Yana, please have some food. You have lost too much blood. yesterday. Although you’ve gotten some blood, you’re still very weak.”
Jane looked like a loving mother, but she didn’t even give a glance to her other daughter who was just a few steps away and almost fainted because of excessive loss of blood.
“Just have some.” Carl Miller frowned, his tough tone carrying obvious
concern.
“No, no,” Yana yelled wildly and stretched out to knock off the bowl in Jane’s hands fiercely.
The oatmeal was spilled on the ground, its smell spreading in the air.
Susan licked her lips–she wanted to eat it.
But…
No one ever thought of her.
Jane just held Yana’s hand gently. “Sweetheart, be careful. What if you get hurt again?”
Yana responded in a fit of pique, “It would be better. Don’t save me. Just

let me die.”
Speechless, Susan pursed her lips.
Susan mused, ‘If Yana got hurt….
I’m afraid I have to draw blood for her again.
Yana, please, don’t be petulant anymore. I can’t stand one more blood transfusion. It will kill me. Susan could only pray silently.
“What are you talking about?” Jane wiped her tears. “You’re making me heartbroken.”
“Yana, calm down. Nothing is more important than your health.” Carl softened his voice.
Yana’s eyes lit up. “Really? Then I want to cancel my engagement with the Landor family! I don’t want to marry Ben Landor!”
“Nonsense!” Carl was taken aback by Yana’s words and looked around subconsciously.
He calmed down a little bit after confirming only his trusted men were around.
He ordered others to go out and closed the door tightly. Only then did he let out a sigh of relief.
Ben Landor was the head of the Landor family.
Everybody had heard of him.
Ten years ago, Ben’s father, the head of the Storm Group, died suddenly.
Ben, who was only 18 years old back then, took over the company.
Despite the negative voices from others, he expanded the Storm Group from a medium–sized corporation into a top–notch consortium in ten
years.
If there was a nobody–can–offend list in Coraland, or even in the world, Ben would definitely rank the top.
He had such a legendary experience and such immense power.
It was the Miller family’s sheer luck to get the chance to get engaged to
Ben.
But Carl didn’t expect that Yana would not want such a wonderful chance.
“Dad, I’m serious!” Yana said anxiously, “The Landor family is indeed. powerful, but Ben looks like a monster! I cannot bear one single day to

live with him.”
When Ben was a kid, he suffered a fire, which left a serious scar on his face though he survived. And Yana was scared by his monster–like face when she saw him from afar.
Therefore, she would rather die than marry Ben.
Carl’s eyes flashed. “A promising career is the most important thing for a man and you shouldn’t care about his appearance too much.”
Although Carl doted on his younger daughter, he wouldn’t give up this opportunity to build a relationship with the Landor family!
Once Yana and Ben got married, the Millers would ascend the social ladder.
“Dad!” Yana kept on telling her worries urgently, “But it is universally acknowledged that Ben is ill–tempered and his wife would become unfortunate after marriage. His first wife died of an accidental fall to the sea just the third day after they got married. Rumors had it that it was Ben who pushed her to the sea and killed her.”
“It’s just a rumor.” Carl continued to convince Yana.
“Okay, let’s call it a rumor. Then what about his next fiancée? She died of a heart attack in the evening exactly the day she went to Landor residence. Some speculated that she was scared to death by Ben’s savage behaviors.” Yana was really anxious.
“Another rumor.” Carl refuted.
In fact, Carl was even glad that Ben had such a ferocious appearance and terrible reputation.
Otherwise, the Miller family wouldn’t have gotten the chance to get engaged to him.
“Dad! There’s no smoke without fire.” Yana was so anxious that she almost cried out, “I wouldn’t live long if I married such an ugly and fierce man as Ben. What’s the point if I were to die soon after I marry him?”
“Honey.” Jane got somewhat distressed after hearing Yana’s words, “Even if these are all rumors, Yana might have a bad day if she was married to Ben due to the wealth gap. I… I don’t want my sweetheart to bear such pain.”
“Mom, I don’t want to leave you. I don’t want to marry Ben. I’d rather commit suicide than be tortured to death by him.” Yana cried much more sadly.

“My poor girl.”
Jane and Yana hugged each other, crying hard.
Carl frowned, and his mind began to shake.

After a long time, he said with hesitation, “But I… I’ve agreed to Mr. Charlie Landor’s proposal back then. If I break my promise, Ben might avenge on us.”
It was just a piece of cake for Ben to destroy the Miller family.
Yana seemed to have thought about this and she replied quickly with tears in her eyes, “Dad, you agreed to marry your daughter to Ben. But you have two daughters. What about letting Susan marry Ben?”
Susan was struggling to stay awake while listening to their conversation causally.
But she didn’t expect that she would be involved suddenly.
