Chapter 7
They finished the kiss.
Susan stood back, feeling a bit shy.
Ben cast a meaningful glance at her and then sneered at the priest, “Is that enough?”
“Y–Yes, it’s enough,” the priest stammered.
Charlie, after giving a glance to the displeased Penelope, slowly stood up.
Because of the Miller family’s antics, he hadn’t been too fond of Susan initially.
However, in just half an hour, Susan had completely changed his perception.
He now accepted her as his granddaughter–in–law.
“The ceremony is over. Next, please join us at the Landor residence for the wedding banquet,” Charlie said with a smile.
The guests responded in a hurry.
The Landor family’s wedding banquet was naturally extremely
extravagant.
For the attendees, it was a delightful experience.
However, for the newlyweds, such grandeur only meant one thing–exhaustion.
Susan, balancing in her high heels, gritted her teeth.
She had been standing in the church for quite some time, and now she had to continue to stand and greet the guests.
Her feet hurt, but she couldn’t show any signs of discomfort.
Ben glanced at Susan and suddenly asked, “What is your shoe size?”
Susan instinctively replied with a number.
Ben nodded and gestured at a servant, “Go and fetch a pair of flat shoes in her size.
The servant left quickly as ordered.
Susan blinked in confusion,
If she understood correctly, Ben was getting her a pair of shoes.

She hurriedly said, “No need. I can manage. I—”
Ben interrupted her coldly, “If you trip and fall, it would be even more embarrassing.”
Ben’s tone was rather harsh, and Susan shrunk back, not daring to say anything more.
In no time, the servant returned with the shoes.
Susan put on the flat shoes, instantly feeling a sense of relief. She stole a glance at Ben, her gratitude growing stronger.
Susan followed Ben and offered toasts to the guests.
Ben went out to take a work–related call. After informing him, Susan headed to the balcony to take a break.
She reclined on a lounge chair without any sense of decorum, kicked off her shoes, and allowed her feet to relax for a moment.
It was September, and the weather was mild, with a gentle breeze that was just right.
Susan’s expression softened as well.
At this time, someone suddenly opened the door to the balcony.
“Ben, are you done?” Susan asked subconsciously.
No one answered.
Susan sensed something amiss and turned around, slightly surprised. It was Timothy.
While the banquet hall buzzed with activity, this balcony seemed like a small world, isolating all the noise.
Susan pursed her lips and asked calmly, “Why are you here? I thought you were at the banquet.”
Timothy didn’t respond to her question but instead posed another.
He asked, “Why did you resign? The company was partly your creation. Did you just abandon it?”
Susan never expected these questions from Timothy. She paused for a moment before chuckling. “I am Mrs. Landor from now on. Do you think I still need to work?”
Timothy looked at her disappointedly, “Is the Landor family’s power that important to you? How can you marry someone like Ben? Susan, I misjudged you.”

Timothy’s last few words were filled with bewilderment and disappointment.
Susan couldn’t help but feel a hint of irony deep within.
She looked at him coldly and said, “What did Yana tell you about my marriage?”
Timothy was stunned for a moment, “You suddenly resigned and turned off your phone. I asked Yana what happened to you, and she said that the Landor family wanted to form an alliance with the Miller family through marriage, and you agreed to marry Ben. Isn’t it true?”
Susan’s smile turned even more ironic.
Indeed, it was true.
But many details had been left out.
However, Susan had no intention of explaining it to Timothy.
First, Timothy might not believe her since he already had preconceived
notions.
Second, it was unnecessary.
Susan, Ben is cruel and ruthless. He is not a good match for you. If you are unwilling to marry him, just let me know. I will do everything to help you get a divorce.” Timothy’s voice grew slightly urgent.
He spoke with genuine concern.
Susan’s gaze, however, immediately turned cold.
She looked at Timothy expressionlessly. “Timothy, Ben is my husband. If you ever speak ill of him in front of me again, we won’t even be friends. anymore.”
Timothy was stunned for a moment. “I’m telling the truth!” he said with a strained voice.
Susan suddenly stood up, her tone unwavering. “You all say he’s terrible, but what’s wrong with him? His face is scarred, but so what? Many people may look attractive on the outside but have dark hearts. Ben, on the other hand, has a broad mind, is indifferent on the outside but considerate on the inside, and is kind–hearted. He is a thousand times. better than many good–looking people.”
Yana had stolen the spotlight at the banquet, but later she withdrew from her betrothal and asked to be replaced. The Miller family’s behavior was undeniably excessive.

Originally, Susan thought that Ben would be absent from the wedding, teaching her a lesson.
But he showed up, leaving her with a trace of dignity.
That was enough to prove his broad mind.
The priest deliberately made things difficult for her, and everyone could see it, but no one helped her.
Only he, seemingly indifferent, stood up for her. That showed how considerate he was within him.
She was exhausted from high heels, but no one noticed.
It was Ben who suggested she change her shoes.
Despite his less–than–pleasant tone, Susan focused on the result–her feet were much more comfortable.
That was why she called him kind–hearted.
Susan felt that she had spoken the absolute truth.
But Timothy was utterly perplexed.
Timothy thought, “Broad–minded, outwardly indifferent but inwardly considerate, and kind–hearted… Is Susan talking about Ben? She must be out of her mind!”
“I’m going back to the hall; help yourself.” Susan ignored Timothy directly and walked past him.
She just stepped out of the balcony when she collided with someone.
Susan was surprised.
It was Ben!
What was he doing here?
Ben looked at Susan with interest, “I never thought I’d appear so perfect in my wife’s eyes.”
Ben had come to the balcony to look for Susan, but he saw Timothy unexpectedly.
Then he heard Susan’s resolute words.
Ben was about to laugh when listening.
He mused, “Broad–minded, outwardly indifferent but inwardly considerate, and kind–hearted? When have I given this woman such a misconception?”

Under Ben’s teasing gaze, Susan blushed suddenly and stammered, “Sorry, I–I…”

“No need to apologize. You were simply speaking the truth,” Ben replied nonchalantly and then glanced at Timothy. “Isn’t that right, Mr. Leen?” Timothy remained silent, his face darkened.
“Let’s go. The guests are still waiting.” Ben naturally extended his arm. Susan obediently linked arms with him, and the two of them departed, leaving Timothy alone behind under the moonlight in the cold night.
