Chapter 561
Seeing his dejected expression, Caroline continued, “Perhaps you don’t want to admit the truth.
Maybe you don’t want to face the fact that you lost to someone whose status and wealth aren’t as
good as yours.”
Eddy’s expression turned even darker at her words.
“Enough, Caroline! I was nice enough to visit you. I’m not here to listen to your lectures.”
“Then, you’ve already visited me. Can you please leave?”
Usually, Eddy would turn around and leave at this point. However, this time, his legs seemed to be
rooted to the ground. He didn’t move a single inch.
After taking several deep breaths, he said, “Although I failed you as a fiancé, you don’t have to be
so hostile every time we meet. Perhaps we can still be friends.”
Caroline had already closed her eyes.
Seeing this, Eddy frowned. “Or are you planning to skip being friends and be spouses again?”
Caroline remained silent.
“I–I mean, it’s not impossible.”
Eddy frowned and explained, “But I have to settle things with Layla first.”
Caroline opened her eyes and questioned, “Eddy, are you deaf or something?”
“What do you mean by that?” Eddy asked angrily.
“If your ears are working, let me tell you this–my husband and I have a very good relationship. We
won’t get divorced, so please don’t say anything that makes me seem unloyal to him.
“I already told you, I’ve never thought about getting back together with you after I got married.”
Eddy frowned. After a long while, he relaxed.
“Caroline, it’s not shameful to admit that your ploy to marry someone else has failed.
“You know better than anyone else that your husband is a useless piece of garbage. You wouldn’t
be in the hospital right now if he wasn’t.”

Your husband isn’t a good fit for you.”
Caroline retorted, “And you think you are?”
Eddy blinked unnaturally at her words. “Well … I’m not sure about that. But I know for a fact that your husband doesn’t deserve you.
“He doesn’t even have what it takes to protect you. You’d better leave him.”
At this time, neither of them knew that someone was standing outside the door, and that someone was none other than Kirk.
When he heard Eddy asking Caroline to leave him, his eyes turned terrifyingly dark. He resisted the urge to push open the door. He wanted to hear Caroline’s answer.
“Are you kidding me, Eddy? If he doesn’t have what it takes to protect me, you’re even worse than him.
“You had what it took to protect me, but look at what you did. You kept hurting me. And you even tried to take away my kidney to save your lover, who wasn’t ill at all. Was that your way of protecting me?”
Eddy said, “I told you. I didn’t know that-‘
“Stop.” Caroline cut him off.
Then, she said arrogantly, “I have something to say about your little comments. First of all, I’m an adult capable of protecting myself. Only a child asks for protection in everything they do.
“Also, it’s not like my husband didn’t protect me. In fact, he kept me safe. If he hadn’t shown up at the last moment, you wouldn’t even be talking to me right now.”
Chapter 562
After Caroline was done, she looked at Eddy with a raised brow.
She continued, “Do you get it now? My husband is a hero to me, and our marriage is doing very,
very well.
“It’s not something people like you can understand. So please don’t try to drive a wedge between
us anymore. You’re just wasting your breath.”
Eddy looked at Caroline. All the words he wanted to say were stuck in his throat.
Then, he spat, “Caroline, I’m saying this for your own good. No matter what, I hope you can
properly think this through. Don’t be stubborn!”
With that, he turned around and left. After taking a few steps, he turned back around. “By the way,
I forgot to tell you something.”
Caroline looked at him and asked, “What is it?”
“Grandpa has been in bad health recently. You should visit hi
more often if you have time. Also,
he really hopes we can be together, so I hope you won’t say such hurtful words when you see him.”
Caroline pursed her lips. After a while, she said, “I’ll make sure to visit him.”
However, she didn’t agree to Eddy’s second request.
Eddy was frustrated. He didn’t know what to say, so he had no choice but to leave.
As soon as he reached the elevator, he saw Kirk sauntering from the other end of the corridor.
Eddy was very surprised to see him. He asked, “Uncle Kirk? What are you doing here?”
M
“I’m here to see Caroline.” Kirk’s tone was calm, and he had a dull expression. There was only a
hint of mysteriousness in his gaze.
Eddy was very depressed. “Uncle Kirk, can you go for a walk with me?”
Kirk pondered for a moment and hummed in assent. Then, the two men walked to the garden
together.
Eddy covered his cheek in pain. “Uncle Kirk, what do you think is wrong with me? Back then, I
thought it was pointless for Grandpa to insist that Caroline and I be together.

Kirk said, “I advise you to stay away from Caroline.”
Eddy said reluctantly, “Why?”
Kirk’s eyes landed on Eddy’s confused face. Then, he chuckled, “Because you wouldn’t cherish her
after you get her back.”
Eddy didn’t notice the hint of ridicule in Kirk’s eyes. He lowered his head and asked, “Is that really
going to happen?”
Kirk remained silent, staring at Eddy with a hint of fire in his eyes.
After a long while, Eddy raised his head, his eyes still full of conflict.
“I think you’re right, Uncle Kirk. The reason I want Caroline is because I’ve lost her once. Maybe I
wouldn’t want her anymore when I get her back.”
The coldness in Kirk’s eyes disappeared to some extent. He stood up and patted Eddy on the
shoulder.
“That’s right, so don’t think about Caroline anymore. Just keep your distance from her, and you’ll
slowly realize you’re not in love with her. You simply want to have her.”
Kirk’s words enlightened Eddy. He forcibly ignored his disappointment and thanked him.
“Thank you, Uncle Kirk. You’re really the guide on my journey. I would have thought I was in love
with Caroline if it hadn’t been for you.”
Kirk smiled cunningly, like a fox. “You should go home, then.”

After leaving the hospital, Eddy’s mood still didn’t get better. He felt as if he had lost something
important
He wanted to turn around and get it back, but he couldn’t find anything. This negative feeling
persisted, and there was no way for him to get rid of it.
Meanwhile, Kirk opened the door to the hospital room. “Darling.”
When Caroline heard noises, she immediately looked up and put down her phone.
“You’re back! Where did you go? Are you hurt?”
Caroline’s concern made Kirk curl his lips into a smile. He sat down by the bed and wrapped an
arm around her waist.
“Did you miss me that much? It’s only been a while since I left.”
Caroline’s hospital gown was very thin. When Kirk placed his warm hand on her waist, she felt
her cheeks quickly turn red from his touch.
She lowered her head and said bashfully, “As if I missed you.”
“I can’t believe you’re still trying to be stubborn. Who was the one who said our marriage was
doing well and no one could break us apart?”
Caroline’s face turned redder at his words, as if someone had painted on her cheeks. Her red face
made her look really cute. Kirk couldn’t resist eating her up.
However, Caroline became annoyed. She raised her fist and gently hit Kirk’s chest with it. “You
heard what I said?”
“I heard it by chance.” Kirk kissed her cheek.
“I never knew I was so important to you, darling.”
“Don’t celebrate too soon.” Caroline avoided Kirk’s kiss.
She said, “I still haven’t forgiven you for what happened last time. Though it’s not your fault,
you’ve made me sad for so long. So I won’t let you off that easily.”
Kirk put his hands on either side of her with a smile on his face. His nose touched Caroline’s, and

and her voice was delicate and soft, like honey. “Kirk…”
It had been too long since they had been so intimate. Everything that happened made them act
strange, cautious, and tentative.
However, when they earnestly conveyed how they felt, Caroline set aside her bashfulness and
embraced the feelings of passion she had dearly missed.
Their burning passion was like a spring. It made them gradually forget their many troubles while
they were immersed in it.
When Caroline lay on the bed, sweating, she realized that the bed was too small. She hadn’t
noticed it earlier, but now she realized that her waist hurt.
She nestled herself in Kirk’s arms and grumbled, “It hurts.”
“Where?” Kirk asked nervously.
“My waist.”
Kirk smiled and massaged Caroline’s waist. “But we weren’t too intense this time, so why does
your waist hurt?”
Caroline was so angry that she wanted to hit him.
“I’m not talking to you anymore,” she grumbled, turning over with her back to Kirk.
Kirk watched her back in a daze. He hugged Caroline and murmured, “Darling, let’s have a baby.”
Caroline’s body trembled at his words.
Kirk quickly added, “I don’t mean now I’ll wait for you.”

Kirk would always be there for her.
Caroline slowly dozed off in his arms. In her sleep, she dreamed that she was the mother of three
children, all of whom were very beautiful and lovable.
They would surround her and call her ‘mommy‘. She gradually lost herself in their affectionate
calls.
Just as she was consumed with joy, the three children suddenly grew up. Each of them held a
knife in their hand, pointing it at her. Their cute expressions were replaced with ferocious ones.
One by one, they shouted, “It’s all because of you that we ended up like this.
“You didn’t raise us well.”
“Hurry up and give us some money, you old hag!”
Caroline opened her eyes in fright.
Her sudden movements naturally woke up Kirk as well. He looked down at Caroline and asked,
What’s wrong, darling?”
”
Caroline looked up at Kirk in confusion before shaking her head. “Nothing. I just had a nightmare.”
Kirk said, “I’ll get you some water.”
“No, it’s fine.”
Caroline urgently grabbed Kirk’s hand. She kept her body arched, forcibly nestling herself into
Kirk’s arms as if she could dispel the chills she felt.
Kirk asked helplessly, “Darling, can I take this as you trying to entice me?”
Caroline’s face turned red at his words, and her phone rang just as she was about to speak.
She looked at her phone. It was an unfamiliar number, and it was an international call. Hesitantly,
she answered the call.
Then, she heard a strange yet familiar voice on the phone.
“Is this Caroline? I’ve already written the first part of my new play. Do you want to read it?”

She looked at the time, and she understood. It was probably still daytime where Marietta was, so she didn’t realize it was already late at night in Easton.
Marietta was a sentimental person. She had even remembered to send Caroline her play.
“Of course, why don’t you send it over?” Caroline asked, sitting up on the bed. Since she couldn’t sleep after her nightmare, she could read the play to pass the time.
Marietta quickly sent the script to Caroline.
Caroline told Kirk she couldn’t sleep and went to the couch to read the play. Kirk poured her a glass of water and sat by her side to keep her company.
Marietta’s play was so well written that Caroline was hooked after reading a few lines. When she finished the part and looked forward to more, she realized Kirk had already fallen asleep.
She stood up quietly. After covering Kirk with a blanket, she sent a text to Marietta.
“I’ve finished your masterpiece. You wrote it so well. When it comes to commenting on current
affairs, your precise and rare point of view is always a delight.”
Marietta quickly replied, “I’m definitely good at writing things I’m familiar with. Unfortunately,
I’m a mess when describing family relationships.”
Caroline smiled and texted, “Maybe it’s because you have a very happy family life. That’s why you
don’t have much experience in this aspect.”
It had been a while since Caroline sent the message, but Marietta didn’t reply. She didn’t think
much of it and picked up the phone to reread Marietta’s new play.
It was when she finished reading it that she noticed Marietta had replied to her text.
“No, it’s precisely because I have a miserable family life.” 1
Caroline was shocked by her message. She had never expected someone as successful as Marietta
to have a bad family life!
Chapter 565
Caroline opened Google on her phone, and after entering Marietta’s name, she clicked on the Wikipedia article about her.
According to the article, Marietta had had a happy family when she was young, but her life had changed after her daughter had been abducted.
That incident had also given her the incentive to start writing. She hoped to become famous so that her abducted daughter could find her and return to her.
Caroline fiddled with her clothes as she read the article, feeling sorry for Marietta.
She couldn’t believe that this seemingly sharp–tongued woman had tragically experienced the loss of her child. On top of that, her husband had abandoned her for his lover in her early years.
But when she saw Marietta, she dared to guess that no one could tell she went through such an
experience.
“I’m sorry.”
Caroline replied reluctantly, “I must have reminded you of some bad memories.”
Marietta replied very slowly, probably because she was processing her emotions. “It’s okay. In
fact, I haven’t brought this up for many years.”
Caroline apologized once more.
After a long while, Marietta replied, “I just checked the time. It should be around 3:00 am in Easton
now. Why aren’t you asleep? Did I wake you up?”
Caroline smiled when she saw such a cordial message from the woman notorious for her sharp
wit.
In fact, Marietta wasn’t as scary as rumors claimed her to be. At least she was kind and gentle to
her.
Moreover, someone like her was actually considerate of the time difference. Honestly, it was rare
for Caroline to see a big shot like her.
Caroline was nestled on the couch. After glancing at the sleeping Kirk, she sent a message to
Marietta.

“A nightmare? What was it about?”
Caroline leisurely explained the nightmare she had to Marietta.
Marietta explained, “There’s a saying in Easton: dreams at night reflect daytime thoughts. You must be having this nightmare because you were worried about something.”
Caroline didn’t want to discuss the reasons for the nightmare, so she changed the subject. “You seem to know Eastonian very well.”
Marietta texted, “My parents are Eastonian, but I grew up in Yudonia and became a citizen there. That’s why many people think I’m from there.”
“I see. When I first met you, I was a little surprised to find out you were Eastonian.”
“Actually, after I lost my daughter, I often had nightmares about her.”
Marietta brought up the nightmares again. She seemed to be too lonely, so she was eager to have someone to talk to.
She continued, “Once, I dreamed of her holding a knife to my neck, asking me why I let her get abducted. So many years had passed, but I still had nightmares like this.
“But ever since I talked to you, I haven’t had a nightmare like this again. It’s amazing.”
Caroline said, “That’s great, Ms. Weiss. I’m sure you’ll find your daughter again one day.”
“I hope so.”
Marietta asked, “Caroline, can I call you Carrie?”
“Of course, it would be my pleasure.”
“Then, you shouldn’t call me Ms. Weiss anymore. It sounds so formal. Just call me Aunt Mary. When I publish my new play, I’ll get you to write my foreword.”
Caroline was excited. “It would be my honor.”
She would never have even imagined that she would have the chance to write Marietta’s foreword.

“Yeah. Marietta even asked me to write the foreword for her play!” Caroline smiled brightly.
“I don’t think she’s as difficult as everyone says. On the contrary, I think she’s a sweet person. If she hadn’t lost her daughter, maybe she would be–hey! What are you doing?”

Unexpectedly, Kirk pushed Caroline’s hands away.
He was so strong that she had no power to resist, and in the end, she could only protest with a

They made love until dawn, and Kirk carried Caroline to bed and fell asleep together.
Caroline would be discharged from the hospital soon. To celebrate, Gwen proposed to have a meal
together.
Caroline also invited Sonia, Cheryl, and Jack, and the seven of them happily had their meal in a
private room.
When they ordered their food, Caroline noticed Gwen had ordered dozens of glasses of white wine.
She looked at Gwen and asked, “Gwen, did you order these by mistake?”
Gwen glanced back at her and replied, “Nope.”
“Aren’t you afraid you’ll get alcohol poisoning from drinking this much?”
Gwen hugged Caroline’s neck and said merrily, “I’m just in a good mood today! Don’t worry, I won’t
drink too much.”
Caroline doubted her words, but she said nothing more and continued ordering the food.
After ordering their food, Sean, who had arrived late, opened the door to the private room. Seeing
everyone, he immediately explained, “Sorry, I got caught up in something before I left.”
Everyone said that it was okay with a smile.
Sean’s gaze trailed over everyone, finally landing on Kirk. Jack was sitting beside him. He patted
Jack’s shoulder. “Jack, can you-”
Jack was a dense person. He looked at Sean in confusion. “Dr. Yates, there’s a spot beside Ms. Gwen

Caroline nervously looked back at Gwen. However, she looked more comfortable than everyone here.
Noticing Caroline’s eyes on her, she smiled and said, “What are you looking at me for? Hurry up and order the food.”
So Caroline absentmindedly ordered the rest of the food. When she handed the tablet to Kirk beside her, she whispered, “What’s up with the two of them?”
Kirk took the tablet from her, held her hand, and said calmly, “I don’t know.”
Caroline remained silent at his words.
Then, she looked over at Sean. He seemed normal as usual and didn’t look like he had a problem with this. Was she being paranoid?
She wanted to find out more, but Kirk blocked her sight.
“Darling…” Kirk’s low and deep voice filled her ears.
“You can’t look at other men.”
Caroline was dumbfounded at his words.

The atmosphere in the private room was lively and cheerful.
Chery! sat beside Sonia and kept asking about the entertainment industry. Sonia wasn’t much of a gossiper, so she only talked about things concerning herself.
Meanwhile, Gwen had a drink–off with Jack. Jack was clearly a good drinker, and soon, Gwen
drank until her face turned red.
Caroline noticed Sean hesitating a few times, as if he wanted to say something.
She whispered in Kirk’s ear, “He obviously cares about her, but he’s pretending that he doesn’t. I really don’t get what he’s thinking.”
Kirk put a fish fillet on her plate and said, “If you don’t understand, just leave them be. Let the youngsters solve their own problems.”
Caroline smiled at his words. “It sounds as if you’re calling yourself old.”
Kirk retorted, “I’m not old, but mature. Compared with them, we’re not as naive. We’ll actively find ways to solve our problems.”
Caroline quipped, “You’re just tooting your own horn.”

Gwen was obviously drunk. She was already slurring her words.

Sean looked at him silently for a moment. Then, he admitted, “Fine, I am worried about her. But didn’t you tell me that our problem is unsolvable?
“If I keep pestering her, she might become annoyed with me, and we won’t even be friends…”
Then, he took a sip of his wine. “It’s better just to cut my losses and keep my distance. Although I can’t be with her, at least I can still see her face.”
“You seem to have an open mind about this,” Kirk commented flatly.
Sean shrugged and asked Kirk, “What would you have done?”
Kirk tightly gripped his wine glass, remembering what Eddy had said to Caroline the other day.
He sneered, “I would never let something like this happen in the first place!”
No one could stop him from being with Caroline, not even Jude!
Meanwhile, Caroline and Cheryl stood outside the bathroom, waiting for Gwen. Cheryl asked Caroline with concern, “Caroline, is Gwen okay?”
Gwen had drunk so much. Furthermore, Jack was so dense. Cheryl had tried to signal him not to drink with Gwen anymore, but he hadn’t been able to understand her.
As Caroline listened to the sound of Gwen vomiting in the bathroom, she pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head.
“Is she heartbroken?”
Cheryl whispered, “I’m really curious, Caroline. What happened between Gwen and Dr. Yates? I
thought he treated her really well, so why did they break up?”

“Dr. Yates isn’t the issue here,” Caroline said.
Caroline’s words surprised Cheryl. “T–then, does Gwen not like Dr. Yates?”
“That’s not it.” Caroline didn’t want to tell Cheryl about Gwen’s family issues. Even though she saw Cheryl as a friend, she wouldn’t simply share another friend’s secrets.
“Then, what on earth happened?” Cheryl asked, scratching her head.
She couldn’t understand why two people who liked each other couldn’t be together. If Jack also liked her, she would definitely get into a relationship with him.
Caroline smiled and patted her shoulder. “You silly girl, after you get together with Jack, you’ll discover that love isn’t a fairy tale. It’s full of trials and tribulations. Things won’t be easy.”
Cheryl looked at Caroline and said warily, “Caroline, I don’t even want to be in a relationship after hearing you say that.”
Caroline chuckled. “Really? Don’t you want to be with Jack?”
“Caroline!” Cheryl stomped her foot, blushing.
“But seriously,” Caroline stopped smiling and continued, “what’s going on with the two of you?”
“Nothing is going on,” Cheryl sighed.
“I realized that Jack’s way of thinking differs from regular people’s.
“When he followed me home for dinner every day, the neighbors initially thought he was my boyfriend. However, he would always tell them that we were siblings.
“Now, everyone in the vicinity knows I have a very strong brother, and they don’t dare mess with me,” Cheryl explained with a somewhat proud expression.
Caroline smiled. “That doesn’t sound so bad.”

“Don’t worry, Caroline. If he doesn’t like me, that’s his problem. I wouldn’t blame you for that.”
Caroline nodded at her words and glanced at the entrance of the bathroom.
“How strange. Gwen has been in there for so long. Why hasn’t she come out yet?”
Cheryl said, “Let’s go in and check on her.”
The two walked into the bathroom and went to Gwen’s stall. When they opened the door, they
looked at each other with helpless smiles.
Gwen had actually fallen asleep lying on the toilet. Damn it.
Caroline stepped forward and tried to pull her up. Unexpectedly, Gwen’s body was as heavy as
lead. She couldn’t carry her at all.
“What’s wrong?” Cheryl asked, realizing something was wrong.
Caroline said, “I can’t pull her up.”
“Let me help.” Cheryl squeezed into the bathroom stall. They worked together to pull Gwen up, but
they couldn’t.
Furthermore, Gwen kept her eyes closed throughout their struggles. It seemed that she couldn’t
feel them at all.
“Wait,” Caroline said, her heart sinking for a moment. She stretched out her hånd under Gwen’s
nose. When she felt her breathing, she breathed a sigh of relief.
She ordered, “Go and call Dr. Yates over.”

She grabbed Cheryl and said, “I’ll go to the hospital with Dr. Yates. Tell the others to head home.”

Caroline kept up with Sean’s quick pace. When they arrived downstairs, she said, “I’ll get the car.”
Sean nodded.
Soon, Caroline drove her car over to Sean. She rolled down the windows and yelled, “Get in!”
Sean quickly put Gwen in the back seat and got into the car with her.
Caroline started driving to the hospital. Sean kept rubbing Gwen’s hands and feet in the back seat.
She only glanced at them for a moment before continuing to drive with confidence. Sean was a
professional, so she trusted him fully on issues like this.
After driving a certain distance, they almost arrived at the hospital. Then, they heard Gwen’s voice
in the back seat.
“Why am I in a car? Wasn’t I supposed to be in the restaurant?”
Caroline quickly turned around and looked at Gwen in surprise. “You’re awake, Gwen!”
Gwen had already sat up. She looked at Caroline in confusion and asked, “Carol, what am I doing

Hearing her words, Caroline stopped the car.
“… So, you fell asleep. You didn’t pass out? You really scared us just now.”
She said angrily, “I thought you had fainted, so we wanted to bring you to the hospital.”
Gwen laughed at her words. “Haha! It’s a good thing I woke up, then. We would have become a

Just as Caroline was talking, her phone rang. She glanced at it. Kirk was calling.
“Hello?” She answered the call, not noticing Gwen smiling in the back seat.

Sean smiled gracefully. He explained, “Although I’ve given up on pursuing you, we’re still friends, right? Of course, I’ll lend a helping hand to a friend in trouble.”
“So… we’ll be friends from now on…” Gwen said slowly, looking into Sean’s eyes.
Sean turned away. “Yeah.”
Gwen smiled and said, “Yeah, that’s a good idea. I think we’ll last longer as friends than lovers.”
“I think so, too,” Sean agreed, looking out the window.
Gwen smiled. “Then, are we going back or
”
“That depends on Caroline.” Sean looked at Caroline, who had finished her phone call.
After getting into the car, Caroline said to them, “Kirk will pick me up in a moment. Which one of you can help me drive the car back?”
Sean and Gwen looked at each other, then quickly looked away again.
“I’ll do it. I was the one who caused all this,” Gwen said.
“I can’t believe you still want to drive after drinking so much.”
Caroline quipped, “Maybe you should go to the hospital to check on your brain.”
Gwen was speechless at her words.
“Then, I’m the only one who can do it,” Sean said.
Caroline glanced at Gwen. “What about you, Gwen? How are you going home? Why don’t we give you a ride?”
“No thanks. I don’t want to be a third wheel for you two.”
Gwen laid on the back of the chair. She said, “I can just take a cab later.”
“It’s a bad idea to hail a cab at this place.”

“I’ll take her home on the way,” Sean said.
A sly smile appeared on Caroline’s face. She said, “Okay. I’ll be relieved if you take her home.”
Gwen looked over at Caroline suspiciously. She had a feeling that Caroline had done this on purpose, but she didn’t have any proof.
Ten minutes later, Kirk arrived. Caroline got out of the car and waved to the two of them. “I’ll be going now. Send me a message when you arrive home safely.”
“Okay.” Gwen leaned on the car window and waved Caroline goodbye.
After Caroline got into Kirk’s car, Gwen put down her hand and asked, “Is Carol trying to set the both of us up?”
Sean grabbed the keys. He chuckled. “Probably.”
Gwen laughed as well. “Will she be upset if she finds out we won’t do as she wishes?”
Sean said, “Probably?”
Gwen laughed again. She was smiling, but there were tears in her eyes. Fortunately, Sean had already started the car in the front seat, so he didn’t notice her crying.
Gwen rested her head on the front seat and let the tears flow down the back of her hands. In fact, she didn’t really know why she was crying.
Sean said they could be friends, which was what she obviously wanted. However, she wasn’t as happy as she had imagined.
Instead, she felt as if she had lost something important to her. She felt a piece of her heart being ripped out. It hurt so much that she couldn’t breathe.
Half an hour later, the car arrived at Gwen’s house. She stumbled out of the car.
Seeing this, Sean frowned and got out of the car to support her. “I’ll take you upstairs.”
“No, it’s fine. I can walk by myself.” Gwen’s mind was awake, but her movements were a mess.
After taking a few steps, she couldn’t tell the difference between her left and right feet anymore.
However, she still wasn’t aware of it.
After taking a few more steps, she turned to Sean and boasted, “See? I told you I could walk!”

Sean smiled, but the next second, a trace of worry appeared in his eyes. “Be carefu-”
Before he could finish speaking, Gwen felt her body swaying uncontrollably. The weightlessness made her even more frantic.
