Chapter 299 Liars Will Pay!
Victor pointed at the female artists and shouted, “What are you saying? I’ll sue all of you for defamation! How could you betray me after all the company has done for you?!”
Scarlett’s face was deathly pale as she turned and left the hall.
Maia quickly told a staff member to follow her. The staff member nodded and ran after
Scarlett.
“That’s not me in the video! I’m a gentleman! How could I possibly do something like this?”
Victor was already at the brink of losing his mind as he kept shouting the same phrases. He
could not accept that his crimes were publicly exposed.
Maia stood up as she noticed the officers entering the hall. She gave him a cold glance and said, “You should leave your excuses for the cops!”
Victor was trembling as he turned around to see the officers behind him. He was arrested and
taken away.
The show Maia had prepared had finally come to a perfect end. As she was about to leave, she noticed Cedric had not shown up. She could not help but glance at his empty seat before walking out of the hall.
When she reached the exit, she saw two women hanging around suspiciously. She frowned as she felt that something was wrong with how they were acting.
Looking closely, she recognized them as Fiona’s goons, Jane and Julie. Maia found it strange how Fiona was not with them, as they were inseparable.
Seconds later, Maia’s cell phone rang. When she saw that it was Baz, she had a bad feeling.
Baz’s panicky voice came through the line, “Ms. Maia, is Mr. Cedric with you? I’m not able to get through his phone. Something like this has never happened before!”
“What do you mean? He’s not with me.”
“I’m not on the island. Mr. Cedric sent me back to Prismara to handle some things for him. I was supposed to report to him after that, but I couldn’t get him on the line.”
“Maybe he’s just busy?”
“That’s impossible. He had told me to report to him first when I’m done with it!” Baz refuted.
“Maybe he had left the island already. I heard he had checked out of his room.
“Mr. Cedric wouldn’t leave the island when Victor hadn’t been cared for. Moreover, you’re still on the island. He wouldn’t leave you here on your own. The reason he checked out was because

“Me? Why?”
“Mr. Cedric was worried you wouldn’t like him staying next to you. So, he moved back to his original suit on the twelfth floor.”
“Does this mean that he’s still at the resort?” Maia was surprised, as Cedric hadn’t attended
the Horizon Award.
“Yes, he’s still there,” Baz replied.
“Alright, I’ll go look for him now.”
“Thank you, Ms. Maia.”
Maia hung up and looked around her. It was about a 15–minute drive back to the resort. While looking around to find a suitable means of getting back, she made eye contact with the other girls.
When their eyes met, they both looked at her in fear and tried to run away.
“Stop!” Maia yelled at them. “Where’s Fiona? What are you trying to do snooping around
here?”
“N–Nothing. We’re not snooping around.” They replied.
“Really? You better start being honest with me, or else you’ll learn your lesson the hard way.”
Maia threatened coldly.
Jane could hold her front as she was not afraid of Maia. However, Julie started to tremble, as she had nothing to do with Fiona and Jane’s scheme.
“Ms. Maia, please, I’m not involved in their plan. Jane was the one who gave Fiona the drug and encouraged her to seduce Mr. Cedric. I didn’t have anything to do with it!” Julie confessed
immediately.
Jane looked at Julie in horror as she heard her confession. “What are you talking about!” She did not expect Julie to betray them so quickly.
Julie lowered her head and avoided Jane’s gaze as she shivered in fear. Maia shifted her gaze
from Julie to Jane as she glared at her coldly.
Jane stumbled a few steps behind as Maia’s gaze was petrifying.
“Just wait! I’ll make you pay!” Maia warned them as she quickly left the scene. She needed to get to the resort to stop Fiona.
Maia quickly scanned her surroundings while she tried to calm her anger. She saw a car waiting in the parking lot to pick up one of the artists at the event. She ran toward it, opened

Maia quickly took off her heels and hopped into the driver’s seat. She buckled up and sped out of the parking lot!
The driver watched in amazement, as he could not believe the CEO of Starlight Entertainment had just driven off in his employer’s car.
