After walking out of the room, Kirk saw Sean and Gwen, who had arrived at some point. Adrian was still
there too.
Adrian had obviously figured out why Sean was here. So he mocked Kirk when he saw him, “That’s not cool of you, Mr. Kirk. You’ve agreed to let me take Caroline away. But you still asked your friend to-”
Kirk said calmly, “Before you worked with me, you should have known there’s no way I would let you take
her away.”
“Indeed, but I didn’t know you were Eddy’s second uncle at that time. If I had known your identity, I would never have foolishly proposed to work together.”
Kirk walked up to Adrian and said, “Name your price.”
Adrian’s expression shifted at his words. “Are you trying to use money to degrade my sincerity?”
“No, I just want to repay you as Caroline’s husband.”
Adrian’s expression turned gloomy. “Kirk, if you really want to thank me, don’t use money to do that!
“Just like you, I don’t want Caroline to marry Eddy. The reason why I helped her is because I love her. I
want her to be happy.”
Kirk narrowed his eyes as well.
Realizing that they might fight, Sean quickly stood between them.
“Enough of this. Caroline will wake up soon. If you guys keep fighting, it won’t be good if she sees Kirk. It
may worsen her condition again.”
Sure enough, Kirk and Adrian stopped arguing when they heard that.
“I’m leaving,” Kirk spat. Then, he walked to the door.
However, Adrian stood still.
