Skyler’s lips curled into a sly grin, a hint of mystery in his eyes, “Although Geoffrey is a master of disguise, capable of changing his appearance at will, he has one weakness.”
“What weakness?” The question burst from the crowd in near unison.
Skyler replied with mock seriousness, “He’s allergic to silver. Just a scratch on his skin with a silver object, and he’ll break out in hives.
Nickel allergies were common enough, but a silver allergy was a rare beast indeed.
William made a face as if he’d just bitten into a lemon, “He’s not a vampire, is he? Only vampires are supposed to be allergic to silver.
Aurelia chuckled, “Honey, there’s no such thing as vampires in the real world. The vampire. myth is actually based on people who suffered from porphyria.”
“Could he be a porphyria patient?” William asked, his curiosity piqued.
“I don’t know,” Aurelia said, ruffling his hair. Geoffrey was like a specter lurking in the. shadows; aside from Skyler’s descriptions, they knew nothing about him.
Leopold stroked his chin thoughtfully as he listened. If Geoffrey really was Skyler’s twin brother, Tanya could have easily switched the two, letting Geoffrey, who was ambitious, claim his right to their heritage.
Why bother focusing her efforts on Skyler?

She hadn’t done that, which could only mean one of two things. Either Geoffrey wasn’t actually Skyler’s twin, or he had some dark secret, some affliction far worse than anything Skyler might bear.
He was thus relegated to being Skyler’s shadow, hiding behind him.
The bodyguard returned with the concoction Skyler had requested, and he quickly whipped up an insecticide. After diluting it, he handed it to the guards to spray around the yard and garden.
Aurelia patted Skyler’s shoulder, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way. I believe you can take down Geoffrey. Evil never triumphs over good,
Skyler smirked. “I’m not about to hand over the antidote to Geoffrey and Aunt Tanya. And even if they got their hands on it, it wouldn’t help them. This isn’t an ordinary poison. It’s a fungus that replicates continuously in the body. The antidote can only suppress it and put it into dormancy. It can’t kill it.”
Aurelia gasped. If Geoffrey was the poison king, did that make Skyler the king of kings when it came to toxins?
She wished she’d paid more attention in biology class. But then again, with her slightly
above–average intelligence, even if she had studied, she doubted she’d be able to concoct such a formidable poison.
Her thoughts suddenly turned to the superbug she was carrying inside her. She was supposed to have her last antibiotic injection this month, but the doctor had said the bug was stubborn and she needed three more months of treatment. Could it be that like the fungus, the superbug couldn’t be killed and would remain dormant in her body?
The thought sent a shiver down her spine.
Leopold excused himself; he had a meeting with Tanya.
William took a pair of hamsters to his study, not for play but for hypnosis.
Aurelia didn’t know about it. She seized the opportunity of his absence to call Skyler out to the terrace, asking, “Skyler, have you heard of this superbug from the Amazon jungle? It’s terrifying. The patients have to get a shot of antibiotics every month just to keep it at bay.” Since Geoffrey had discovered that superbug, it was likely Skyler knew about it as well. Skyler glanced at her with a somber look, “Angel, are you talking about Medusa? Leopold asked me about it a few days ago too.”
Had Leopold asked? A foreboding feeling settled in her mind.
“Yes, Medusa. Can it be completely destroyed? It won’t linger in the body like that fungus,, will it?”
Skyler shook his head, “No, bacteria are different from fungus.”
