Her sobs caught in her throat, and a wave of distress washed over her.
If she were to die, she’d make damn sure Megan went straight to hell first, even if it meant taking her unborn child with her. She couldn’t spare a shred of sympathy for Megan’s innocent kid. Weren’t her own children just as innocent?

Leopold’s heart ached as if pricked by a needle, “Don’t talk nonsense, sweetheart. You’re. not going anywhere. We’re going to grow old together, remember? We’re hitting a hundred,”
She sniffled, “Fate talks and fortune lies in the heavens. All I can do is take down as many enemies with me as I can. If the antibiotic runs out, give me a heads up, will you? I don’t want to be blindsided by sickness, robbed of a chance to say goodbye.”
If the medicine ran out and her time was up, she’d take out Megan first, then Tanya. It was a must to drag her foes down with her.
She still had some of the poison that Skyler cooked up. Mixed with a little something extra, it would guarantee their demise.
Better to kill a hundred by mistake than to let one guilty party go free.
She was on her way out anyway, so why bother with the niceties? If she could eliminate just one threat to Kane, it would be worth it.
Even a cornered rabbit will attack when threatened, let alone a human. When pushed to the brink, there was no telling what one might do.
Leopold pulled her close, “I’ll promise you anything, but stop saying such foolish things.”
He leaned in, his lips finding hers, and they became entangled, passionate embrace.
Much later, Aurelia walked over to the window and pushed it open, gazing out at the full moon, “We need to smoke out Geoffrey. I refuse to believe he’s content hiding behind Skyler’s shadow.”
Leopold’s piercing eyes glinted with a cold light, “He’s not satisfied, for sure. If he’s skulking in the shadows, afraid to show his face, it’s probably because he’s got a serious weakness or he lacks the Stirling bloodline. Otherwise, Auntie could easily have him replace Skyler instead of wasting so much effort on him.
Aurelia felt his analysis hit the mark.
A man forever hiding behind a mask, unable to face the world with his true identity, must be suffering. Why not force his hand, make him show himself?!
Leopold spoke with a grave tone, “That’s why he wants to control Skyler. If Skyler is his puppet, it gives Geoffrey a sense of balance.”
Aurelia scoffed, “Although Skyler might have the mind of an eight–year–old, he’s got his own strong will. He doesn’t like being fettered, so Geoffrey can’t control him.”
Leopold responded, “Every beast has its match. Skyler is the perfect weapon to defeat Geoffrey.”
Aurelia sighed inwardly. Skyler was pure and kind, and she didn’t want to deceive him into helping her.
After all, Geoffrey and Tanya were his family. She would let him choose his side.
In another room, Kane and William were also plotting how to lure Geoffrey out. They couldn’t let him continue to threaten Skyler.
William fired up a video call, bringing Skyler into the loop with their latest strategy.
“Skyler, we think Geoffrey is shadowing you. He’s like your shadow. We need to flush him out into the open.”
Skyler stroked his chin thoughtfully, “How about we go out and play tomorrow, and see if he follows me?”
“Sounds good,” William nodded, and together they hatched their plan.
Kane pulled out his latest high–tech gadget from a drawer, a tiny tiger–shaped brooch with a built–in camera for surveillance. And with their invisible earpieces snugly in place, they could communicate discreetly at any moment.
