Chapter 10
Having seen Lia’s haggard complexion, Anisa couldn’t help but feel guilty and blamed herself.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you were pregnant? Nothing would have happened if I hadn’t taken you out. I’m so sorry…
Lia paused, and her eyes welled up with tears. She forced a bitter smile.
“What does it have to do with you? Amber harmed me on purpose. Even if she failed this time, there will be another time. The person I should hate is not you.”
Her eyes darkened a little as she felt the lingering pain in her heart.
She swore that she would make Amber pay for it.
Anisa took a deep breath.
“The video and pictures of the incident have been shared online. People have been criticizing them, and Ralph is looking for you everywhere. He probably wants to settle this matter with you privately. Lia, you can’t be soft–hearted!”
Lia’s eyes flickered. “Don’t worry, I am not the love–sick fool I was before.”
If Ralph thought that she would concede and clean up the mess with him obediently, he was wrong. Lia was only going to add more fuel to the fire.
She took out her phone immediately after Anisa had left.
There were dozens of missed calls from Ralph and Gerald. Not to mention the landline from the
Walters Family’s old residence.
She ignored the calls and scrolled through the trending topics online. [1]
“Wealthy Mistress Forcing Her Way in.‘
“Tragedy Strikes Wife in a Car Accident, the Culprit is the Mistress.”
There were videos taken by the dashcams in the cars parked outside the club. It showed the whole process, starting from her waiting at the junction and to her getting hit.
Most of the comments below were people standing up for her.
“How terrifyingly heartless. I refuse to believe this wasn’t intentional!”
“That woman is the mother of Ralph’s illegitimate child. She’s really taking extreme measures to usurp the wife!”
“Is Ralph blind? Lia needs to murder this woman!”
“I feel so sorry for the wife slaving away and living life as a doormat. Men really only care about themselves!”
“Arrest her and prosecute her. This is murder!”
Due to the condemnation Ralph and Amber received, the stocks of Waters Corporation hit rock bottom.
This was a major crisis in the history of the Walters Corporation. It was no wonder Ralph was anxious.
The public outcry was so bad that even the Walters Corporation couldn’t control it. It seemed like the Adams family had a partake in this.
Although Daniel had verbally promised not to intervene, how could he possibly just stand by and watch?
It was also a good thing that Amber’s true colors were revealed.
After all, public opinion warfare was their forte.
Did Ralph think that he could dominate the Internet?
Lia snorted and turned off her phone.
But still, this was far from enough.
For now, she would focus on nursing back her health. Once she had recovered, she would settle the score with them.
Nobody knew what Lia’s real condition was except for Anisa and Daniel.
The housekeeping staff only knew that she was in a weak state due to a car accident. Because of that, they gave her the best supplements to help her recover.
Half a month later, Lia was almost back to full health. Her lawyer then told her that Ralph was unwilling to sign the divorce papers.
She chuckled knowingly. After all, she had expected this
If he had signed it, wouldn’t it just prove that the rumors were true?
Lia changed into a different outfit and went out. She was going to resolve this matter once and for all.
Near the Walter Corporation’s office building, she had sat waiting in a cafe.
The cleaners were scrubbing the office’s entrance. It was then that Lia noticed the chilling words painted on the office’s entrance in red.
“Pay for the price of your murder.”
As if she knew who was venting her anger for her, Lia’s eyes welled up with tears.
The Adams Family would always have her back!
She thought about Amber’s contact number that she had hired someone to find. Then, she promptly
sent out a text.
In less than half an hour, Ralph showed up. He looked a bit weary, and his stern face showed signs of irritation. But, he had headed straight for the cafe.
Lia knew that Ralph’s informants were everywhere, so he would appear in no time.
His intense gaze lingered on Lia for a few seconds.
“Where were you?” he said in a hoarse voice.
