Chapter 11
He had a hard time dealing with various issues during this time. Unfortunately, he could not locate Lia anywhere. It was as if she had disappeared from the face of the earth.
Due to the pressure from the public, the police took Amber in for questioning multiple times.
Ralph’s lawyer was also beyond exhausted.
They could no longer keep this case under wraps. It was spiraling out of control.
Lia lowered her head and took a sip of her coffee. Her eyes were aloof and distant as she said, “Have you signed the divorce papers? We should get the divorce procedures done if there’s enough time today.”
She did not waste time with pleasantries.
Ralph gave her a deep stare with his lips pursed. He was conflicted but still decided to say, “It was an accident. She’s not used to driving in the country, and she didn’t see you.”
Lia slammed her cup on the table and stood up. She couldn’t suppress her anger. “You should know that she was the cause of my miscarriage. It was your child who died. Should I still forgive her?”
Ralph’s expression stiffened. He seemed to be in deep thoughts with a complicated look in his eyes.
He paused to soften his tone, but he still sounded cold when he said, “We’ll still have other children in
the future. Amber…”
Lia couldn’t help but throw her head back and chuckle in anger. Her chest heaved up and down as she
fumed.
She felt silly to be expecting anything from Ralph. She had thought that he would feel something for his own flesh and blood.
But, only a fool could forget that he had always loved Amber!
Lia’s gaze became icy cold. Her face was devoid of any expression as she looked at him. “Oh, I forgot. You have your own child now, so it doesn’t matter that my child is dead.’
Ralph shivered. His heart hurt, as if something heavy had hit his chest.

He frowned and was about to speak when Lia cut him off. “Sign the papers and I’ll let her go. Otherwise, I’ll let her have a taste of how it feels to lose her child.”
Her voice was frigid without a hint of warmth. She was blatantly threatening him.
Ralph was stunned. His eyes darkened as they fixed onto her. He turned frosty in response.
“Lia, how could you do that to a child?” He asked sternly. He did not notice Lia’s mocking expression.
Lia couldn’t comprehend why it was acceptable for Amber to murder her child but not vice versa.
She refused to believe that Amber was innocent.
At this moment, Ralph’s phone rang.
He frowned slightly upon seeing the name displayed. But, he answered immediately.
Amber’s cries could be heard over the phone. “Ralph, Hugo’s missing! I turned around and he’s What should I do?”
Ralph’s chilling gaze instantly fell onto Lia who was right across from him.
He hung up after offering Amber a few words of comfort. Then, he looked at Lia silently.
“Was it you?” He asked in a quiet tone.
Lia did not respond.
From Ralph’s perspective, that was as good as an admission.
“Where is he?” His dark gaze was scathing.
Lia tapped on the divorce papers on the table, as if she was negotiating a business transaction.
She held the winning hand.
Ralph clenched his teeth and reluctantly agreed, “Fine, I agree to the divorce.”
He signed the papers and threw it back at her. “Speak. Where is the child?”
gone.
With lowered eyes, Lia picked up the papers and stood up. “Let’s file this right now to prevent future
complications.”
