Anisa paused and said, “That’s good, I would have detested you if you tolerate that!”
While talking, she walked over to help Lla unpack her luggage,
After moments of silence, Anisa turned around and hugged tla.
She comforted her. “I’m glad that you’re back. Don’t get yourself entangled with that scumbag again.
Lia’s eyes reddened with tears,
She had been blinded by love and wasted too much time on Ralph,
“I won’t anymore.”
Lia was saying this to Anisa as well as herself. She took a deep breath and swallowed all her emotions.
The next day, the weather was somewhat gloomy and muggy.
Lia threw away the Walters family’s solemn and elegant dressing style. Her identity as Mrs. Walters was no more, so she chose a green off–the–shoulder dress.
It was a dress that she hadn’t worn in three years, and it accentuated her tanned skin. She looked charming and gorgeous.
Afterward, Anisa took Lia to the courthouse. They waited inside the car for a long time, but Ralph was nowhere to be seen.
Three calls were made to his number, but they were all rejected.
Looking at the declined calls, Lia searched for a reporter’s number. The reporter she was contacting was acquainted with the Walters Corporation.
She smiled calmly and got straight to the point. “I have the photos of Ralph’s affair. Shall I give them to you for free?”
The other party was stunned but replied a few words hastily before hanging up the phone.
Anisa gave Lia a thumbs
up,
and Lia flipped her hair.
“Let’s wait for a while. He should be here soon,” She told Anisa casually, “Anyway, what’s new recently?”
Anisa thought for a moment and smiled. “Last month, the Adams Corporation launched a bionic technology that shook the world. It quickly took over the global market. Everyone had said that the Adams family looked low–key but were actually filthy rich!”
As Lia expected, Ralph called as soon as Anisa finished speaking.
She chuckled lightly. Indeed, things would only work that way.
Lia calmly answered the phone and heard the anger in Ralph’s chilling voice.
“Lia, don’t think too highly of yourself. Even if you have something in your hands, do you really think that the media would dare to release it?”
Lia knew that the Walters Corporation had a powerful background. She also knew that the media would not dare to offend them.
However, if she hadn’t taken such an approach, how would she break up with Ralph and leave?
Lia chuckled and said indifferently, “Mr. Walters, I’ve been waiting for you at the courthouse. It was because you didn’t turn up that I made a move.”
Ralph fell silent, then said in a stern voice, “I don’t have the time to fool around with you. You’d better come to work on time, or I’ll fire the bunch of losers under you.”
He hung up the phone immediately after saying that.
Lia froze. She wondered if Ralph was going to drag innocent people into his grudges against her.
Lia then asked Anisa to go home first. Afterward, she turned around and took a taxi to Walters Corporation.
Everyone in the company was surprised to see Lia so soon. They hadn’t expected her to return looking ever more radiant.
Lia headed straight to Ralph’s office with the divorce agreement. She had also brought her long prepared resignation letter.
Now, all she wanted was to settle this and leave as soon as possible.
Lia opened the door and went in without knocking.
In the office, Amber sat next to Ralph with a frail and pitiful expression.
The two people had lowered their heads to discuss the document. They sat close to each other and interacted in an intimate manner.
Lia’s face darkened slightly. She hadn’t expected to meet Amber here.
Then again, she was the woman who bore Ralph’s son. So, it was no surprise for Amber to show up in the company.
Lia’s arrival undoubtedly spoiled their pleasant atmosphere.
With disdainful eyes, Lia said, “I planned to divorce first and then resign. But it seems now that I have to resign first.”
Ralph looked up at her with indifference and alienation. His shirt was smooth and crisp, and he emitted a chilling demeanor.
“Aren’t you afraid that I’ll fire all your subordinates if you make such a fuss?”
Ralph knew that Lia had an attachment to the employees in the secretariat. After all, it was the people whom she had personally trained.
Lia sneered, “Then I’ll take them all away.”
The atmosphere became tense in an instant.
When Amber heard that, she narrowed her eyes and smiled faintly.
She retrieved a gift box from the drawer and handed it over to Lia.
“Ms. Adams, are you still angry about what happened yesterday?
I’m really sorry about that. I heard that yesterday was your third wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, Ralph had been busy with me and my child, so forgot about it.
This is a gift Ralph and I chose together for you. I hope you will like it.”
Amber walked over to Lia and said in a low voice, “By the way, I also have an identical necklace!”
She looked at Lia with provocation and sarcasm in her eyes.
Lia found it absurd that Ralph and his mistress had prepared a gift for her. As if it wasn’t ridiculous enough, the gift just had to be a necklace that the mistress also had!
She couldn’t describe how she felt. It was as if she had stepped into dog shit while walking on the street, and it made her feel extremely disgusted.
Lia stared at Amber coldly.
The next second, she raised her hand and knocked the gift out of Amber’s hand.
“Save your breath and stop acting!”
Amber’s face turned pale. She looked at Lia aggrievedly.
“I know that you’re angry with me, but my child is innocent. Can’t you accept him, please?”
Having said that, tears rolled down Amber’s face and she sobbed pitifully..
‘Lia, what are you doing?” Ralph said in a frigid tone as he stood up with a grim’expression.
When he took note of Amber’s crying and the gift thrown on the floor, his expression darkened.
He couldn’t believe that Lia dared to bully Amber right in front of him.
Amber held onto Ralph’s arm and wept pitifully.
‘Ms. Adams has a good reason to be angry. It’s okay if she doesn’t like my gift. I only hope that she an treat Hugo better. I didn’t mean to ruin your marriage.”
alph frowned and glared at Lia. His deep dark eyes were cold and somber.
s Lia watched Amber’s act, she couldn’t help but admire her Oscar–worthy performance. She could
deem Amber as a professional and deserving actress.
She smiled faintly and said drily, “You’ve become a mistress and even given birth to a child. How can you still pretend to be innocent? Don’t you think it’s ridiculous?”
Amber’s turned white as a sheet. She leaned against Ralph weakly and cried in grievance.
Ralph looked at Lia icily and expressed a sense of gloom.
“Lia, don’t go too far. She’s not a mistress. You’d better show some respect for her.”
Ralph protected Amber as if she was his precious treasure. He really couldn’t bear for her to suffer any grievances.
Seeing that, Lia felt like she was the villain breaking a couple apart. It seemed as if she was the mistress instead of Amber.
Lia looked at the both of them indifferently. Sarcasm tugged at her lips.
“Is she a noble? Does she deserve my respect?”
Lia endured the chill in her heart and glanced at Ralph sharply.
Ralph looked at Lia’s calm face and felt a stir in his heart. But, he quickly restrained his emotions.
Listening to Amber’s pitiful cries, Ralph felt distressed.
He gave Lia a dirty look. “Lia, apologize to Amber!”
“Apologize?”
Lia stared at Ralph with amusement. She was stupefied.
At that moment, Amber bit her lower lip. She took a cup of coffee from the table and walked over to Lia with a meek and cautious appearance.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Adams. I am the one who should apologize to you.
Pushing the cup toward Lia persistently, Amber almost spilled the coffee onto her. So when Lia saw that, the rage within her overrode her rationality.
She backed away and slapped Amber hard in the face.
The sound of the slap and the shattering cup rang out at the same time.
Lia shook her numb hand and felt indescribably thrilled and satisfied.
The air became tense for a moment.
Amber held her red and swollen cheek in shock, and her eyes brimmed with fearful tears.
Ralph stared at Lia in disbelief. He couldn’t care less of the mess he looked like and protected Amber behind his back. A frightening chill flashed across his eyes.
“Lia, are you crazy?”
