Chapter 8
Anisa snorted scornfully and turned on her heel to walk away.
The lawyer then introduced himself. “I am Ms. Adams‘ attorney. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns.”
He exchanged name cards with Ralph’s lawyer before leaving with Anisa.
When Ralph’s lawyer took a glance at the name card, he was stunned. “He’s a top–tier lawyer from the leading law firm in our country. He’s also known for winning every court case.”
Ralph froze in place.
“Go and search for Lia’s whereabouts now,” He instructed Gerald, who then nodded in response.
A while after Ralph returned to the office, Amber clocked in to work.
She warmly brewed a cup of coffee for Ralph. Yet, he only glanced at it with heavy eyes.
His taste buds had long changed and was more accustomed to the coffee that Lia brewed.
Currently, his thoughts were only filled with that woman.
“What’s wrong, Ralph? Are you feeling sick?” Amber asked with a pale face cautiously.
“Do you even know who you hit yesterday?” Ralph asked solemnly.
Amber pursed her lips and shook her head anxiously.
His eyebrows twitched in response to her reaction. “The one you hit was Lia. Were you genuinely unaware of that?”
Amber went stiff and tears began rolling down her cheeks. She approached him and held his hands.
“It was Lia? I didn’t do it on purpose. I swear, I really didn’t know it was her. Is she alright? I’ll go and apologize to her, okay?” Amber sniffled.
Ralph pulled his hands away from her while his complexion began to pale. There was an inkling of indifference and suspicion in the furrow of his brow.
Amber cried hysterically and clutched onto his shoulders. It was as though she was afraid of losing something. “There’s no reason for me to harm her. Do you not believe me? I am a mother myself, so why would I lie to you?”
Ralph looked at her heavily. His dark gaze was overwhelming, and he exuded an imposing air. “I will thoroughly investigate this matter. If you had done it purposely, you can look forward to accompanying my child in the afterlife.”
Amber was stunned, and her face ashened. She wiped her tears away and sobbed slightly.
“Do you not believe me? I’ll apologize to Ms. Adams and beg for her forgiveness right now. If she’s

unwilling to forgive me, I’ll surrender myself to be incarcerated. If that happens, I’ll leave Hugo in your hands.”
Ralph stared at her solemnly. Then, he pursed his lips with an indifferent expression. “Very well, then. I’ll make arrangements to send you abroad soon.”
Amber was left in dismay after he had finished talking. She froze on the spot and turned pale. There was a hint of fear flashing past her eyes.
Ralph ignored her and left right after. There were way too many coincidences, so he couldn’t help but
overthink.
He owed Lia way too much. Once she was all recovered, he would bring her back and make things up to her. He would treat her better.
Lia had been in a coma for several days.
Her body ached all over from the moment she woke up.
She slowly opened her eyes and scanned her surroundings dazedly.
The interior was adorned with luxurious decor and limited edition furniture that seemed uncanny. There were exquisite antique vases placed all over the room. She also recognized the beaded curtains that she had previously custom–ordered from abroad.
Immediately, her eyes reddened and welled up with tears.
This was the room that she had been away from for a long time. It was the home that she hadn’t returned to for three whole years.

She was Lia Adams the eldest daughter of the Adams Corporation. She was an heiress trained to inherit the company from a very young age!
“Ms. Adams, you’re awake?”
The person beside her exclaimed in surprise before calling out, “Ms. Adams has woken up!”
The memories prior to her fainting flashed before her eyes. She remembered a blinding light and the immense pain that struck her. Immediately after, she placed her hands on her belly.
