Caroline was quiet. The call went silent for a while.

“Eddy must be back.”
Caroline was hesitant. “I need to hang up now.”

“Do we need an outsider to comment on whether we’re suitable?”
Kirk’s tone was extremely hostile. “Has everything in the Mendely family been going too well recently?
You have so much free time on your hands. Are you trying to cause them some trouble?”
