“She asked you to come over, right?” Kirk said.
Jack remained silent.
“Go ahead. I’ll be safe here.” Kirk took another sip of his drink.
Judging by his current state, safety wasn’t exactly the issue at the moment.
“Are you outside?” Jack heard Cheryl’s voice again.
“Since you’re busy, I won’t disrupt your plans.”
“No!” Jack blurted out. He scratched his head. He was in a difficult position.

“There are so many people here. Nothing will happen if I’m here.”
Jack frowned. He hesitated and momentarily struggled with his decision, but he still chose to see Cheryl.
All right, sir. Make sure not to wander around. If anything happens to you, Dr. Yates will never let me
hear the end of it.”
“Just go. It’s not like I’m a toddler or something.”
After seeing that Kirk was still in the mood to joke, Jack finally left with peace of mind.
With Jack gone, Kirk was the only one left in the private room. He could finally stop feigning composure
and let out all his emotions.
