Reborn Wife and Her Mr. Right by Isabella Embe ( Keira ) Chapter 5

Chapter 5 Trampling on The Splendid Carpet

  • The voice outside irritated Keira. She feared the man shouting outside would come in, make a scene, and get in the way of Victor and Otto in the medical treatment room. Otherwise, she wanted to go out and confront him right away.
  • In her previous life, Joseph and Keziah had conspired and caused Keira’s family to be destroyed. Keira badly wanted to kill him, but it wasn’t the right time now, no matter how much she desired revenge.
  • Victor was still in surgery and didn’t fully trust her. Therefore, she couldn’t do anything to make Victor uneasy during this period. Otherwise, with that man’s temper, he might leave halfway through the surgery and take her away.
  • She glanced at Mr. Cruz beside her and noticed his troubled expression. She asked him impatiently, “Mr. Cruz, we have so many bodyguards. Are they just standing by while that man causes trouble outside?”
  • Mr. Cruz subconsciously glanced at the medical treatment room and lowered his head, hiding the strange look in his eyes. “Mrs. Byrom, how should we handle this?”
  • “We should obviously throw him out!” Keira clenched her fists, restraining the urge to go out and confront Joseph. She lowered her voice. “If he disturbs Victor, Victor can’t focus on the surgery…”
  • Meanwhile, Victor was lying on the bed in the medical treatment room and gradually tightened his fists. Otto rolled his eyes upon sensing Victor’s muscles tense up. Victor was an extraordinary man. Anesthesia was usually adequate for three to four hours on an average person’s metabolism. Still, the effects swiftly went away on Victor. Otto administered another dose of anesthesia without saying anything.
  • Upon seeing that Victor couldn’t move his arm, Otto glared at him fiercely. “Let me make it clear to you. Although this injury isn’t severe, it can potentially be life-threatening if not handled properly because of its proximity to your nerves.” He sneered and continued, “If you want to be powerless when that man takes Keira away, go ahead and do whatever you want!”
  • Victor’s tense muscles gradually relaxed when he heard the last line. Otto knew Victor couldn’t hold back for long in this situation and was afraid Keira would do something unexpected. Hence, he picked up the pace.
  • Meanwhile, the large screen next to the medical treatment room was turned on. Victor could see what Keira was doing outside through the surveillance monitors. Keira seemed anxious, looking into the medical treatment room again and again.
  • At the same time, Joseph was attempting to scale the wall. Bodyguards had thrown him out of Rose Grove Manor but dared not use force against him, so he sat on the wall and shouted, his voice even louder than when he stood in the courtyard.
  • In the surveillance footage, Keira seemed to have made up her mind and asked Mr. Cruz to bring him in. She looked down at her clothes and turned to return to her room. Is Keira afraid of looking bad since she fell into the water? Is she changing her clothes before meeting her lover? Everyone who witnessed the scene had similar thoughts.
  • Otto sighed helplessly when he saw Victor was about to lose his temper while watching the surveillance footage. “Why don’t you have her locked up?” Otherwise, Victor would be worried that Keira would run away with Joseph. He was constantly resisting the anesthesia, and Otto was annoyed at having such distractions while performing the surgery.
  • Victor’s intense gaze deepened as he frowned and sized up the scene on the surveillance monitors. His uninjured arm gripped the side of the bed so tightly that the bedframe was about to break.
  • Sure enough, Joseph is the one she cares for. Is she going to happily leave with him as soon as he arrives? Victor was overwhelmed by negative emotions. It was as if he had fallen into a void of negativity and couldn’t escape. His eyes were bloodshot, and he suddenly recalled what Keira had said. “Victor, please don’t be mean to me. I’m scared!”
  • He forcibly suppressed his desperation and secretly admonished himself. No. I can’t lose my temper. It’ll frighten Kay. He turned and calmly spoke into the bedside intercom with great restraint. “As long as she doesn’t leave, let her do whatever she wants.”
  • Mr. Cruz received Victor’s order and breathed a sigh of relief. He led Joseph to the hall.
  • Joseph followed the butler in with a smug smile. So what if this butler works in Dornellos’ leading financial conglomerate? He still has to bow and grovel to me. And what’s the big deal about Victor being Dornellos’ top business leader? The woman he loves doesn’t even care about him.
  • I, Joseph Flint, am not inferior to him in either skills or good looks. Victor was lucky to be born with a silver spoon in his mouth!
  • The heavy door opened. Even though Joseph had been here before, he couldn’t help but be amazed every time he saw the luxurious Rose Grove Manor.
  • The oil painting hanging in the corner was the last work of a genius painter sold at a sky-high price a decade ago, while the priceless vase on the side was an antique from centuries ago. Every flower and blade of grass on the floor carpet was so lifelike. Joseph felt like he was stepping on clouds when he walked over it.
  • Because of the struggle outside, his feet were covered in mud. A smile spread across his face as he looked down and watched the dirt on his feet stain the luxurious carpet. Indeed, the feeling of trampling on and ruining something so splendid and unattainable brought him great pleasure.
  • Keira returned to her room and casually changed into the dress Victor had prepared earlier. The rainwater had made her look very disheveled, and the wet clothes clinging to her body were somewhat revealing.
  • Walking down the stairs, she unintentionally caught a glimpse of Joseph’s covetous and manic gaze. She had never seen this side of him before. Keira instinctively gripped her skirt tightly as the impulse to hurt him surged in her heart again. When he heard footsteps, Joseph saw Keira in an elegant white dress. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was a particular brand’s latest haute couture design, and his expression changed.
  • However, he remembered his purpose for coming today and concealed his dislike. He put on a worried expression and quickly approached Keira. “Kay, you’re finally here. Did Victor hurt you?”
  • Keira looked away. The desire to hurt him was overwhelming, especially when she saw his annoying face.
  • When Joseph saw Keira’s expression, he thought she was heartbroken and too humiliated to face him. “Did he bully you?” He was glad he had achieved his ulterior motive and feigned a righteous, indignant expression. “That beast. How can he treat you like this?!”
  • “Don’t be afraid, Kay. Even if you’re no longer pure, I won’t look down on you!” he reassured her. “When the opportunity arises, I’ll rescue you from this place!” he promised.
  • Upon hearing these words, Mr. Cruz and the nearby bodyguards immediately had their guard up.
  • Meanwhile, Joseph’s voice became louder as he grew more agitated, and Keira’s expression gradually turned nasty. She rubbed her ears impatiently as she descended the stairs and spoke icily. “Shut up! Your voice is hurting my ears!”
  • Joseph, still putting on his act, stood frozen in place. He had imagined many scenarios, but he had never expected Keira, who used to idolize him, to react so rudely to him. “What did you say, Kay?” he instinctively asked.
  • Keira sneered. Instead of approaching Joseph, she sat elegantly on the plush sofa. She stared at Joseph disdainfully and enunciated each word. “You want me to leave with you? Are you worthy of that, Joseph Flint?”
