Chapter 292 The Plain Water
“What are you doing next door? Does one of your celebrities stay there?” Hope looked at Maia in confusion. “Wait a minute. I seem to recall that no one else stays on this floor except us!”
“It was nothing. I’m going to get changed now.” Maia picked up her gown in a daze and walked into one of the rooms in their suite. Everyone was puzzled. Then, the make–up artist and stylist went to work on both Maia and Hope.
Maia remained quiet throughout the entire process. She merely nodded or shook her head whenever the make–up artist and stylist asked her questions. They eventually smartened up and refrained from asking her anything. There was about half an hour left until The Horizon Awards by the time they were done.
“Let’s go, Maia.”
Maia nodded and went downstairs with Hope. They got in the car and headed toward the event venue on the other side of the resort. This place was impossibly vast. It took them fifteen minutes to reach the event venue.
The Horizon Awards had always been a luxurious event, but they took it to another level this time. It was unimaginably gorgeous! Hope had attended countless ceremonies, but this event was so spectacular and gorgeous that even she was gobsmacked by what she saw.
Hope was not the only one who was stunned. Aside from the dispirited Maia, everyone else was impressed by the magnificent view before them. Both of them stepped foot on the red carpet once they got out of the car.
With Maia at the helm, the celebrities from Starlight Entertainment walked on the red carpet. The Horizon Awards was a live–streamed event. Moreover, it was broadcast from multiple angles in high definition!
Clad in a form–fitting short gown, Maia led her group of celebrities on the red carpet. The internet went crazy at that moment!
“Dang. Maia has such a great figure! She has fair skin, a delicate look, and a pair of long legs!
How slender and fair!”
“I’m impressed through and through. There are no words to describe her beauty!”
“What an exquisite gown. However, it’s not suitable for everyone! Maia totally pulled it off!”
“Why does Ms. Maia look a little displeased? Is this what all aloof, exquisite ladies look like? How did she pull off standoff–ish and graceful at the same time?”
“Hope’s so pretty too! She looked like a flower–dryad today! Woot!”
“They’re both beautiful in a completely different way! Just how good are the Burgess genes?”

The host started interviewing Maia and her celebrities when they went onto the stage.
“Ms. Hope and you are the talk of the internet, Ms. Maia. Everybody, including me, wants to know what you guys did to have such exquisite figures. Can you give us an answer?”
“We drink plain water,” Maia said coldly. The livestream was flooded with comments, each of them praising Maia for her answer!
The host gulped. Obviously, he did not dare to keep going because he was deterred by her cold demeanor. Hope, who was standing next to Maia, smiled and said, “All pretty ladies drink plain water!” Then, she made a heart gesture at the camera.
The live stream was flooded with comments once again, all of them were about how adorable Hope was. After that, the celebrities from Starlight Entertainment introduced themselves and underwent brief interviews before heading to the venue together.
Maia could not explain why, but she started looking for him as soon as she was in the venue. Alas, he was nowhere to be found.
Was he skipping the Horizon Awards? They told her that he was going to show up. The award- giving ceremony would begin in about an hour. Was he going to wait until then before making an appearance?
The vast venue was segregated into two sections, with a jade partition dividing them in the
middle. The left section contained guest seats with names on them. That was where the award- giving ceremony would be held. The right section was where the buffet was.

The celebrities were given an hour to feast and mingle. As a matter of fact, few celebrities would treat themselves to the buffet because they have to outshine each other tonight.
They could touch up again if they smudged off their lipstick, but they would be in trouble if their gown were stained with oil or sauce! What was more important was that everyone was concerned that it would affect their camera presence if they took food now. So, all of them tried to avoid eating tonight.
Be that as it may, Hope was an exception to that rule. “I’m hungry, Maia.” Hope rubbed her growling tummy and gave Maia a look. “Should we catch a bite? I see creme brulee there!”
“The other celebrities aren’t eating. They’re drink juice, at most. I can’t believe food is all you’re thinking about now.’
Hope put on a pitiful expression. “How am I supposed to stop myself when all this good food is right there, Maia? Are we going to let it all go to waste? The farmers worked hard so this food could be put on the table!”
“What about your weight?”

“I slimmed down again recently, Maia. You know for a fact I can’t get fat from eating. I managed my weight to comply with company requirements. In fact, there was no need for that. Look at me. Don’t you think I’m slender enough?”
Maia could not handle it when Hope acted cute with her, “What about the cameras?”
“I’m not worried about that. I look quite cute when I eat.” Then, she blinked at Maia, “Are you going to eat something, Maia?”
Maia shook her head in response. There was something she needed to do.
“Alright.” With that, Hope nodded and headed toward the buffet section. Maia took her phone out and texted Buck.
“Is everything ready?”
She had a bigger fish to fry today! She was going to tear down Victor and deal with Mykonos
Studio when it was vulnerable!
Maia had just sent the text when she heard an unfamiliar voice from her back.
“You look splendid tonight, Ms. Maia! You’re as magnificent as Ms. Rosa was!”
Maia turned toward the sound and saw Victor there. Her grip on her phone tightened. However, she composed herself in less than a second and looked so natural that no one would think otherwise.
“You look particularly dashing too, Mr. Victor. You look twenty years younger tonight.” Maia smiled at him. She, too, knew how to flatter!
“You’ve been the CEO of Starlight Entertainment for less than a year, Ms. Maia. However, your company has achieved great heights. Looks like the younger generations are not be taken lightly!” Victor approached her with a glass of wine in one hand and gave Maia another glass with the other.
