Chapter 22
Ralph frowned in annoyance.
He suppressed his emotions and said, “When public opinion was directed against you, it was an unauthorized decision made by the public relations department. It had nothing to do with Amber.
“Also, the police have already declared that the case of her hitting you with a car was an accident. She was detained and fined for that. What else do you want?”
The corridor was silent, and tension filled the air.
Lía suddenly raised her head and glared at him coldly.
She sneered, “Do you mean to say that after everything that has happened, I’m still the one who owes Amber? Ralph, was the 100 thousand dollars she was fined worth as much as my child’s life?”
With her extremely cold words, Ralph’s expression changed abruptly.
His heart clenched painfully. It felt as if someone had given it a hard

squeeze.
Lia’s cold and sorrowful gaze seemed to torture him without mercy.
Ralph’s eyes twitched, and he pressed his lips into a thin line.
He wanted to spill all his secrets.
However, after considering his previous concerns, he concealed all his emotions.
His eyes were dark and deep, and his voice was low and cold.
“What’s done is done. There’s nothing you can do about it. She didn’t mean it anyway.”
He had avoided thinking about the child. So, when Lia mentioned the child, the ache in his heart felt. suffocating.
Ralph clenched his fists. A hint of forbearance showed on his face.
He felt guilty toward Lia and her child, but he didn’t have a choice.
Lia huffed and said, “Does one deserve forgiveness as long as it was unintentional?”
Lia couldn’t help raising her voice. Her eyes were icy cold.
She found it ridiculous.
In order to have Amber acquitted of all charges against her, Ralph had worked hard to find connections for her and had even paid for the compensation.
He seemed to have forgotten that the child that had been lost was also his child.

Thinking of that, Lia felt so heartbroken that she could barely breathe.
Her grudge ran deep.
Her child would have been born smoothly if she hadn’t married Ralph. But, it was too late for her to regret it now.
Lia’s heart ached painfully, and her eyes flashed coldly.
She suddenly reached out to grab his collar and slammed him against the wall.
Her voice was low and deep, and she emitted a chilling aura as she said, “Ralph Walters, protect her for the rest of your life if you can. Otherwise, I’ll kill both of you sooner or later.”
After saying that, Lia pushed him away and left.
If she stayed there for a moment longer, she was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to control her urge to kill that disgusting couple.
Ralph stood there awkwardly in silence. He watched Lia’s back as she walked away, unable to understand his own feelings at that moment.
Just then, a voice drifted out from the restroom.
“Did Ms. Adams really push Mr. Walters‘ partner just now?”
Someone else replied, “Of course not. I was standing nearby when it happened. I saw everything with my own eyes. Mr. Walters‘ partner deliberately said many horrible things to provoke Ms. Adams.
“So, Ms. Adams slapped her on her right cheek. Then, Mr. Walters‘ partner took the opportunity to fall down the stairs, which was on her left.
“She had even calculated the angle of her fall in advance so that she would only have superficial injuries. With such clever tricks up her sleeve, she’s obviously a supreme bitch!”
When the two ladies came out of the restroom, they were shocked to see Ralph standing at the door with a grim face.
Ralph’s eyes were grave and cold. He asked, “Was everything you said true?”
The lady who had spoken earlier replied nervously, “It’s… It’s true. Many people were around at the
time. They saw it too.”
Amber’s tricks could only deceive ignorant people, but it was impossible to deceive those like them who had grown up dealing with the power struggles of wealthy families.
Ralph turned around and left with a gloomy expression. He wondered why Lia didn’t deny the
accusations at the time.
His heart felt heavy.
Seeing that he wasn’t going to say anything else, the two ladies let out a sigh of relief.
