Chapter 5
Lia was fed up and sneered, “He bumped into me himself. I didn’t even touch him. Surveillance is a wonderful thing to have. So please have some common sense and take a look at it before accusing me.”
Amber froze, and she stopped crying.
It seemed that she had forgotten about surveillance. That being said, her previous accusations could
be overturned at any time.
When she was about to say something to turn the tables, she saw Lia turn to leave with her bag.
Ralph frowned and quickly handed Hugo to Amber.
“Wait for me here.”
Afterward, he hurriedly went after Lia.
Ralph couldn’t explain the feelings he had. With Lia’s recent behavior and the subconscious changes in his heart, he only felt uneasy.
When Ralph caught up, Lia was waiting for a taxi outside.
He stood over there with a complicated look on his face.
He asked in an aloof tone, “What are you doing in the hospital? Are you sick?”
Lia looked at Ralph strangely.
Just earlier, he had accused her of stalking him. So why was he acting concerned about her health
now?
She wondered what kind of mentality he had to be acting like this.
Of course, Lia would not let Ralph know about her pregnancy. So she said casually, “I’m just visiting a friend.”
Ralph didn’t know her friends anyway.
Upon hearing her response, he became tense.
“Where have you been staying these days? Why haven’t you come home?”
Lia glanced over and said in a cold voice, “What does it have to do with you? If I move out, your new lover and illegitimate child can move in!”
Ralph’s eyelids twitched. Apparently, he was agitated.
Lia chuckled nonchalantly.
“I almost forgot that you own many properties, Mr. Walters. You won’t let them live in a second- hand one, will you? Their existence is not a secret anyway.”
Ralph suppressed his anger with forbearance. Ills tone was crisp,
“I used to think that you had a good personality. But you can’t even tolerate a child?”
Lia’s heart trembled, and she clenched her fists tightly.
It was easier said than done. Was it petty of her for not being able to tolerate a child he had with another woman?
She smiled slowly with a hint of coolness.
“Ralph, I don’t want to talk to you anymore. You already saw the divorce agreement. Please don’t bother me with anything else apart from divorce procedures.”
Just then, a taxi arrived and stopped beside Lia.
After taking a glimpse at the license plate number, Lia got in the car and closed the door.
She didn’t even look back at Ralph.
Lia found it ludicrous. Did Ralph surmise that she should take care of his mistress and illegitimate child? Was she considered to be that lowly?
Ralph looked at Lia’s cold and alienated attitude. His face remained indifferent, but his heart trembled slightly.
He hadn’t told her that the scandals from before were done on the PR department’s own initiative.
But, she might not believe it anyway.
There seemed to be something slipping away from Ralph’s heart. Yet, he couldn’t grasp onto it to stop it from leaving.
In the meantime, Amber came with Hugo crying in her arms. She spoke gingerly, “Hugo’s crying again. Do you think he still has a fever?”
Ralph snapped out of his thoughts, but his expression was still cold. When he turned around, he withdrew his coldness and looked at the delicate child tenderly.
“Don’t worry, the doctor knows what to do.”
Amber smiled with a pale face and looked at him cautiously.
“I saw your divorce agreement. Will you be divorcing, Ralph?”
Ralph’s smile faded, and his eyes immediately turned dark. He glanced at her indifferently.
“No, I won’t. She will always be Mrs. Walters.”
Amber’s blood ran cold, but she forced a hypocritical smile.
“That’s good. Otherwise, I will feel bad.”
Ralph didn’t say anything and carried Hugo inside.
Hatred and frustration flashed across Amber’s weak eyes as she lowered them inadvertently.
If Ralph didn’t want to divorce, she would have to deal with Lia.
Since then, Lia received messages from unknown numbers several times. They were nothing more than the intimate photos of Amber and Ralph. Not to mention, insults about her infertility.
She could easily guess who the culprit was.
But since they could serve as free evidence for the divorce, Lia kept all the messages.
She had relaxed a lot by eating, drinking, and having fun with Anisa. Due to this, Lia’s overall
condition was better than before.
In the evening, Anisa took Lia to the club to hang out with some friends.
Lia didn’t refuse and chatted and laughed with everyone. It was as though she was back to the carefree days before her marriage.
In the middle of her fun, Lia went to the restroom.
Unexpectedly, she ran into Amber but feigned ignorance and looked away.
Then, Lia took lipstick out of her bag to touch up her makeup.
Looking at Lia’s alluring appearance, Amber couldn’t help but feel jealous.
“Ms. Adams, I didn’t expect you to be quite fun-loving. Ralph and I are here to socialize. Do you want to go say hello?”
Lia could tell that Amber was showing off about going in and out together with Ralph and smiled
placidly.
Looking at Amber’s coy face through the mirror, Lia said coldly, “If you’re really that capable, then make Ralph divorce me. Otherwise, don’t mess with me. I might end up slapping you.”
Lia warned Amber unceremoniously and gave her a piercing side eye. As Amber’s face stiffened, Lia
turned around to leave.
Inadvertently, a piece of paper fell out of Lia’s bag. She hadn’t noticed it and left directly.
Amber bent over and picked up the paper. It was a medical report, and when she read the test results, her expression changed.
Lia was pregnant!
Amber clutched onto the report tightly as her breathing hastened. The turmoil and trepidation that churned within her had reached its peak.
If Ralph knew that Lia was pregnant, wouldn’t all her efforts be in vain?
It would all the more be impossible for Hugo and her to enter the Walters family.

In an instant, a sinister hint of ruthlessness flected across her eyes.
She wouldn’t let anyone stand in her way!

When Lia returned to the private room, the others were almost done drinking.
While Anisa bid everyone goodbye, Lia waited outside for her and the driver.
She stood at the junction under the dim street lights.
Concurrently, Amber sat in the car and looked at Lia with wretched eyes.
She saw Lia smiling gently as she put a hand on her belly. Lia seemed to be talking to her baby with her head lowered.
Then, as if a trigger was pulled, Amber was plunged into rage and malice. She gripped onto the steering wheel tightly. Right now, only gloom and aggression imbued her eyes.
There was only one heinous thought left in her mind, and that was to hit and kill Lia’s child!
Amber couldn’t let Lia and her child become her obstacle any longer. So, if she killed them, no one would compete with her for Ralph anymore.
All that should have been hers anyway!
Lia and her child can just go to hell.
Amber tensed up and gritted her teeth. Then, she slammed down hard on the gas pedal.
Go to hell!
When Lia raised her head, she saw a light from across her. It was so blinding that she couldn’t even open her eyes.
Then, a shrill screech sounded and the car sped toward her.
Momentarily, her mind went blank, and her hands and feet turned cold. ⚫
The instant the car hit her, she noticed the driver inside.
It was Amber.
An ear-splitting boom pierced through the silence of the night.
Lia was knocked away and fell heavily to the ground.
Excruciating pain followed, and it was as if her whole body had shattered.
After that, all the pain gathered in her lower abdomen.
There was a warm liquid gushing out below. It seemed that something was flowing out of her body bit by bit.

Lia’s heart clenched, and she was drenched in fear and agony.
At present, she couldn’t move, and it seemed as if the whole world had abandoned her.
She wanted to save her child! She had just decided to raise the child on her own.
But right now, the life inside her body was forced to leave in a struggle. She was about to lose her baby.
As she laid there helplessly, both her tears and her blood flowed down in sync.
Lia was in too much of a pain to say anything.
The bright light shrouded her surroundings callously. Then the strong stench of blood clogged her nose, and her vision blurred progressively.
Now, she could say that the three years of marriage really left her with nothing!
She felt as if someone had crushed her heart with their hands. The pain it brought about coursed through her every nerve.
It was dead silent around her.
But a while later, Lia seemed to hear Anisa’s panicked and hysterical shrieks.
It rang deep in her ears, but the noises were getting softer and softer.
Soon enough, Lia passed out.
