Chapter 6
The area was flooded with people who rushed out from the club.
With the ambulance’s prompt arrival, Anisa handed Lia over to the doctors. She then stood up and bolted toward the car. With a brick in her hand, Anisa bashed the car window.
While all this happened, Amber panicked inside her car. She trembled all over in shock and fear.
Reaching through the shattered window, Anisa unlocked the car door from within. She then yanked Amber out of the car by her hair and kicked her. A slap followed thereupon.
“Smack-“The slap rang out loud and clear. It was hair-raising.
While yanking on her hair furiously, Anisa gritted her teeth and asked, “Do you even know who she is? How dare you do this to her…”
Amber came back to her senses, and her face turned as white as a sheet. She shoved Anisa away and threw herself into Ralph’s arms as he approached the scene.
“Ralph, I didn’t do it on purpose! It was too dark. I didn’t see anyone standing there…” Amber’s voice was filled with fear. She cried with tears rolling down her cheeks and trembled in his arms.
Ralph frowned. His face remained somber as he observed the chaotic situation.
Upon arriving at the scene, he happened to see the stretcher being carried into the ambulance.
When Ralph saw a red puddle on the ground, he had an ominous feeling that something terrible had occurred.
Anisa glared at the both of them coldly.
Her voice was dripping with hatred as she screamed, “Ralph and Amber, the both of you can go to hell!”
After her outburst, she hopped onto the ambulance and left.
Ralph felt uneasy for some reason. He wanted to go check on Lia, but Amber held onto him.tightly.
“Ralph, please help me! I really didn’t do it on purpose.”
“What on earth happened here?” Ralph stared at her coldly as he pushed her away.
“I’ve just returned from abroad, so I’m not used to the driving style here. Besides, it was too dark for me to see anyone standing right there! Ralph, Hugo can’t live without a mother!” Amber whimpered as she tugged on his sleeves desperately.
Ralph’s expression softened at the mention of Hugo. It also seemed to have soothed his emotions.
Following a moment of silence, he patted Amber’s shoulder to comfort her. “Alright, I’ll contact the lawyers. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.”

Amber smiled and cried in relief. Then, she wrapped her arms around him again. “Thank you, Ralph! I knew it. I knew you wouldn’t abandon me and Hugo.”
Ralph ignored the fleeting feeling of heaviness in his heart. Suppressing his anxiety, he called Gerald.
Soon after, the police arrived at the scene. It didn’t take long for Gerald and the lawyers to arrive as
well.
After gathering the necessary evidence, the police questioned Amber, “Do you recognize the victim?”
Leaning against Ralph’s chest, Amber shook her head in dismay. “It was way too dark outside. I could barely see anything.”
After the police left, Ralph instructed Gerald, “As long as the issue can be solved, any amount they ask for is not a problem.”
Gerald nodded and left for the police station alongside Amber and the lawyers.
In the hospital, the doctors left the emergency room with grave expressions. “The patient suffered a miscarriage. Please contact her family members.”
Upon hearing the news, Anisa froze. Her hands trembled as she took out her phone. “Mr. Adams, something bad has happened to Lia…”
Gerald and the lawyers brought Amber to Ralph after she was bailed out.
The police then followed Gerald to the hospital to discuss the compensation. Yet, they were met with only Anisa and her lawyer.
A sense of familiarity washed over Gerald as soon as he saw Anisa. Unfortunately, he couldn’t recall where they had met.
The police approached Anisa and asked, “What’s your relationship with the victim?”
“I’m her friend.”
